Where every dish carries the warmth of family, the pride of tradition, and the promise of freshness. Rooted in heritage and resilience, Zito is more than a restaurant — it’s a loving nod to Greek culture, crafted with care by a daughter who turned heartbreak into purpose.
After decades of running restaurants in Canada, Evangelos Manginas poured his soul into a new venture in the heart of Winston-Salem. In 2014, he opened Zito Pizzeria & Grill — not just a successful restaurant, but a place where friends became family, where authentic recipes came to life, and where hard work met heartfelt hospitality. Evangelos was a proud father of six children, and his love for family was at the heart of everything he did. His daughter Victoria grew up in a deeply Greek household, surrounded by tradition, faith, and the aroma of incredible food. From a young age, she watched her father and grandmother cook in their restaurants, absorbing the love, technique, and passion that defined their meals. It was there her own love for food began to take root. In November 2018, tragedy struck when Evangelos was killed in a pedestrian accident in front of his restaurant — a devastating loss felt by his family and the entire community. The heartbreak was profound. But in the wake of that loss, a new chapter began — one propelled by love, courage, and determination. Victoria made the bold decision to step into the kitchen for the first time and take over operations at the age of 21. Guided by the recipes and values her father had taught her, she committed to honoring his legacy by continuing what he started. In time, she expanded and opened Zito Greek Kitchen in Mount Airy, NC — a place where guests are welcomed with the same warmth, generosity, and spirit her father embodied. Today, Victoria and her young team carry forward a legacy built on kindness, resilience, and deep cultural pride. At Zito Greek Kitchen, guests are treated like family, and every dish is a tribute to the traditions that raised her and the father who inspired it all. At Zito, every plate tells a story — a story of family, faith, and tradition reimagined. Whether you're sharing a meal with friends, stopping in for a quick pastry, sipping wine at the bar, or picking up your favorite Greek products, we’re honored to welcome you into our story — and into our family.
